The 2011 Wrap Up

The Mayor Speaks - Quietly

Can you believe it! It’s been ten years of sustained bad golf action for The Mayor’s Tournament. This year was special as we had a record number of players (sixty four!) help to contribute a record amount of money ($1,925.00) to The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Afflac Cancer Center.

Topping the list of mediocre foursomes was our winning group consisting of Mike and Joe Glancy, with Staurt Hackworth and Mike Oliver…aka The Glancy Allstate group.

In the death defying putt of the year- the fifty foot, double breaker for five grand – had gutsy Mark Hartman wondering if maybe one more beer might have produced the result he was looking for. Tournament participants are now a collective 0 for 3 in this event ending show of skill.

We also had winners for closest to the pin and longest drive, but quite fankly we can’t post the winners’ names here. No, not because of some sercurity measure, but because we can’t remember who they were. We lost the paperwork after the 30th $1 beer.

But we do remember the winner of the 50-50 raffle – Crack Attack author Steve Ventimiglia who won a staggering eighty two dollars.

I want to thank you all for being so generous along with our sponsors. Without you guys (and gals) we wouldn’t be able to give out all the gift certificates and grab bags to all the players.

Last of all, our favorite last place team, making it four out of five years, Team Ventimiglia did it again, winning the famous twelve pack – of toilet paper.

Thank you all, and see you next year!
